when I first started bringing my first z32 to him he had a basic knowledge. When I started having him do more work to the car the dealership sent him off to school for like a week or two to learn everything there is to learn about the z32. Seven years and 3 Z32s later I still use him as my local mechanic on technical installs like heads/cams, etc... I can install a transmission and do basic work myself but the person I trust the most locally with my cars is this mechanic that I know for a fact was sent to the 300zx school offered by Nissan because of the simple fact that I kept bringing my cars there and they were honest enough to say "Hey, we arent comfortable doing this until we send him to school".
